Weber Pianos
Weber Pianos have a long history of over 150 years.  The founder of Weber Piano Co. was a young German man named Albert Weber (1828-1879) who immigrated to the United States in order to expand his career as a musician.  Upon arriving in New York City he realized a great opportunity for a career in piano making.  Alfred Weber teamed up with D. J. VanWinkle and Charles J. Holder, two highly respected piano builders at the time, and soon found himself opening his own piano shop in hopes of creating a piano company that was known for top quality pianos.  With great dreams and aspirations at 24 years of age, and only 8 years after moving to America, Weber began what would become an award winning piano company.  Early Weber pianos boast fine craftsmanship, good quality materials, and a great “Weber tone” as Weber termed it himself.

The Weber name was eventually bought by the Aeolian Group, which was later bought out by Young Chang Co. Ltd, a company out of South Korea.  Today’s Webers have no resemblance in sound or structure to the original Weber pianos.  Nowadays, Webers are almost exact replicas of Young Chang pianos, except with cheaper made cabinets.  Luckily, you can still stumble upon an older Weber piano once in a while.  They are extraordinary instruments and definitely worthy of purchasing as used instruments.  This is a case of “they don’t make ‘em like they used to,” so give any older or rebuilt Weber some good consideration.  It will be well worth it!
